FIELDS OF ACTIVITY

AE’s record of achievement is a result of the track record of its founders and dedicated staff. Since its incorporation in 1994, AE’s expertise has been gained not only through the broad range of its varied services, but as well through the considerable reach and experience of a highly qualified staff. As a result of its involvement in a wide range of projects, AE can offer a highly professional and comprehensive range of services in many disciplines as detailed hereafter.

Project Design & Engineering

AE’s design and engineering services include building and infrastructure projects covering residential, commercial, industrial, medical, educational and municipal services facilities. Our design services are usually carried out in phases, which may include some of or all of the following:

  • System Assessment & Study
  • Overall Project Planning & Coordination
  • Conceptual Design
  • Preliminary Design
  • Design Development
  • Obtaining Relevant Authorities Approvals
  • Final Design & Tender Documents

Within these phases, designs are prepared in the form of documentation including design criteria, calculations, technical specifications, bills of quantities and construction drawings, the designed systems include but are not limited to the following disciplines:

  • Architecture: including topographical survey analysis, architectural design, interior design and landscape architecture.
  • Civil & Structural Engineering: including soil investigation analysis, building external works, roads, water tanks, foundations, steel structure, industrial buildings, reinforced concrete structures, long-span structures, renovation and repair of buildings and earthquake resistant design. It is worthwhile to detail hereafter some of our structural design capabilities that we believe are advantageous relative to services offered in the local market.
  1. Earthquake Resistant Design: In addition to applying relevant international codes for seismic design.
  2. Renovation & Repair of Week, Damaged & Fire Attacked Buildings: AE’s contribution to the rehabilitation of buildings varies from the renovation of old structures to the repair of buildings damaged by explosions or fire and the repair of buildings that originally had problems with their structural design and execution.  In this regard, AE are capable of offering creative engineering solutions.
  3. Steel Structures: AE’s reference projects in this regard include: the redesign of the Arab Markets Plaza – Ramallah in which a value reducing solution was suggested, design of the Central Vegetable Market Hebron, Al-Taqadum Stone Factory – Hebron and the International Pipe Factory – Hebron.
  4. Long-span Structures: Either a reinforced concrete structure, a steel structure or a composite structure is incorporated in the designs depending on the span and the loading of the structure.
  • Mechanical Engineering: including heating, ventilation and air-conditioning design, plumbing and water distribution, fire fighting, water treatment and sanitary systems.
  • Electrical Engineering: including low voltage and lighting systems, earthing, fire detection and alarm, telecommunications and electrical networks.
  • Hospitals, Health Care Facilities & Medical Equipment Planning.
  • Environmental Planning
  • Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD)

Design Management

Acting as either an independent consultant in the role of client’s representative, or directly managing the in-house design projects, AE perform typical design management activities such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Value Engineering: AE are capable of acting either as an owner representative or a contractor representative to offer optimizing solutions in terms of cost and quality by means of studying alternative construction methods that meet client’s requirements and comply with engineering codes and standards.
  • Technical Review & Auditing: The engineering staff may study and provide appraisals for engineering design documents prepared by others, including drawings, bills of quantities, technical specifications and all related tender documents.
  • Building Program Development: When determining on a project scope and budget, AE staff use space-planning techniques to identify type and area of each user space to clearly define client’s requirements in terms of both functional and total built area.
  • Feasibility Studies: AE staff can perform assessment of projects in terms of cost benefit, viability, site contractibility and refurbishment of existing facilities. During or at the end of the design phase, AE staff can provide detailed or lump sum cost estimates.
  • Client Support: AE can offer technical support to the client in terms of preparing requests for proposals, tender documents, contracts, and selection of contractors.
  • Technical Supervision of Design Activities: the design manager coordinates various design tasks and activities including review of drawings, engineering calculations, design specifications, obtaining all relevant authorities approvals, etc. In this context, AE have created Management Assistant position in order to augment and support the overall design management performance by:

Construction Management & Site Supervision

Whether it’s prior to the awarding of contractors or within a construction phase of a project, AE capabilities and scope of services extending to the following:

  • Client Support: AE can offer technical support to the client in terms of evaluating technical and financial contractor proposals for correctness and validity, selection and awarding of contractors.
  • Administration of construction contracts: with regard to monitoring and reporting execution of works, procurement of materials, processing payment certificates, ensuring compliance with contract conditions, issuing of site instructions and variations, evaluation of contractor’s claims, preparation of final accounts, etc.
  • Construction Supervision: including on-site inspection, testing and quality control of materials, workman ship, temporary works and construction equipment. The
  • Supervision is either performed completely by a resident site engineer on a daily basis or partially as required by the client and implied in the terms of contract.
  • Review & Approval of Technical Submittals: including material submittals, material samples, workshop drawings, method statements and as-built drawings.

Further to the Management Assistant’s role in supporting design management as mentioned previously, it is his/her role to assist the supervision manager by designing all necessary databases, templates, forms and spreadsheets in performing the following tasks:

  • Reporting: By means of designing brief and clear reporting forms/templates and data collection tables, the readability of reports is enhanced; a busy reader/client can quickly review reports and data and thus analyze and/or filter out required information.
  • Data Collection: Any shortage or omission of required data is detected whether it’s due to delay or negligence.
  • Event Scheduling: Site visits, submission dates, task timetables, payment due dates, percent completion of projects and other similar aspect are continuously monitored and followed-up. Any deviation or delay is reported to the project manager and/or the concerned parties.
